Word count is determined by splitting text on whitespace boundaries, ensuring accurate counts even with multiple spaces or mixed formatting. Character counts include both total characters and a separate count excluding spaces, which is useful for platforms with strict character limits.
Sentence detection uses punctuation markers (periods, exclamation marks, and question marks) to identify sentence boundaries. Paragraph counting identifies blocks of text separated by blank lines, while line counting tracks every line break in the input.
Reading time is estimated at 200 words per minute, the average silent reading speed for adults. Speaking time uses 130 words per minute, reflecting a comfortable public speaking pace. The average word length metric helps you assess the complexity of your writing.
