What is HEIC?
HEIC (High Efficiency Image Container) and HEIF (High Efficiency Image File Format) are the default photo formats on iPhones and iPads since iOS 11. They offer better compression than JPEG but aren't widely supported on Windows, Android, or the web.

FAQ
Why can't I open HEIC files on my PC?
Windows doesn't natively support HEIC. You need either the HEIF Image Extensions from the Microsoft Store or a converter like this one to view/convert them.
Is HEIC better than JPG?
HEIC offers roughly 50% smaller file sizes at the same visual quality. However, JPG is universally supported, making it the safer choice for sharing.
Will this remove my photo's location data?
Yes — by default, metadata removal is enabled. This strips EXIF data including GPS coordinates, camera info, and timestamps. You can uncheck this if you want to preserve metadata.
Is there a file size limit?
No hard limit — it depends on your device's available memory. Most smartphones and computers can handle photos up to ~50MB without issues.
Can I convert HEIF files too?
Yes. HEIF and HEIC are essentially the same format. This tool supports both .heic and .heif file extensions.
