What is checked
Source XML, invoice rules, PDF/A and semantic consistency.
Show all validation layers
| Check | Applies to | What the result means |
|---|---|---|
| XML security and well-formedness | All sources | The XML is checked for hostile patterns (DTD, external entities, XInclude) and must be well-formed before anything else runs. |
| Syntax and profile detection | All sources | The tool recognizes CII, UBL Invoice or UBL CreditNote and shows the detected standard and profile as declared in the file. |
| XML Schema (XSD) | All sources | The document matches the schema of its syntax. |
| EN 16931 and XRechnung rules | Where applicable | The invoice satisfies the European semantic model and, if declared, the German XRechnung rules. |
| ZUGFeRD / Factur-X profile | CII with such a profile | The declared profile's own rule set is satisfied. |
| Invoice arithmetic | All sources | Line, tax and total amounts are recomputed with exact decimals and must match the declared values. |
| PDF/A-3B (veraPDF) | Generated PDF | The generated document is validated in full by the local veraPDF engine. |
| Field coverage and text fidelity | Generated PDF | Required invoice fields appear in the PDF and the PDF text matches the invoice data. |
How it works
- Open an invoice XML or try a sample.
- The source is validated locally and the detected standard and profile are shown.
- Choose one of five templates, the heading language and optional logo, color and texts.
- Check the live preview of the real PDF.
- Generate the final document; every required check runs.
- Download the PDF and the reports you need.
Limits
- Input is XML only. To open a PDF invoice, use the Viewer.
- A readable PDF is a visual representation. It does not contain the invoice XML. To embed the XML, use the ZUGFeRD / Factur-X Generator (CII only).
- UBL invoices cannot be turned into ZUGFeRD or Factur-X. The tool does not convert between formats or profiles.
- Invalid or incompletely validated invoices produce only a clearly marked draft.
- One invoice at a time. There is no batch mode, no PDF editing and no digital signing.
Private by design
Your invoice stays in this browser tab. It is never uploaded to Konvi.ch or another conversion or validation server. No document data is transmitted.
- The static generator and validator assets load from Konvi.ch.
- Your invoice bytes stay in this browser tab.
- Your logo bytes stay local.
- The preview is generated locally.
- The final PDF is generated locally.
- Validation runs locally.
- Reports are created locally when you ask for them.
- There is no autosave. Reloading or closing the tab clears the session.
- The source XML is never changed.
How can I verify this?
Open your browser's developer tools before loading a file. In the Network panel only requests to konvi.ch for the page's own static assets (scripts, engines, standards packs) appear. No request carries your invoice. In the Application or Storage panel, localStorage, sessionStorage, IndexedDB and cookies stay free of invoice content while you work. No document data is transmitted.
Konvi creates and technically validates a PDF representation of the supplied electronic invoice. It does not determine whether the invoice is legally, commercially or tax-correct. Review the source invoice and generated document before sending or archiving it.
FAQ
Is my invoice uploaded?
No. Everything runs locally in this browser tab. The page loads static application files from Konvi.ch, but no document data is transmitted.
Which XML formats are supported?
CII CrossIndustryInvoice, UBL Invoice and UBL CreditNote, including XRechnung and other EN 16931 invoices the canonical model supports.
Is the generated PDF a valid electronic invoice?
The PDF is a readable representation. It does not contain the structured invoice data, so it is not an electronic invoice on its own. Keep the XML, or use the ZUGFeRD / Factur-X Generator to create a hybrid PDF from CII XML.
Does the PDF replace the XML?
No. The XML stays the structured source. The PDF only shows its content in a readable form.
Can I generate a PDF from an invalid invoice?
Yes, but only as a draft. The result is clearly marked as a draft with the reasons, and it is never shown as validated.
Can I add my own logo?
Yes. Choose a PNG or JPEG. It is processed and re-encoded locally; the original file is not embedded and never uploaded.
Which templates are available?
Classic Business, Modern Clean, Compact Professional, Detailed Corporate and Elegant Minimal. Modern Clean is preselected; you choose.
Is the PDF PDF/A compliant?
The generated document is validated as PDF/A-3B by the veraPDF engine running in your browser. The result page shows the outcome.
Can I create a ZUGFeRD PDF from UBL?
No. ZUGFeRD and Factur-X use CII XML and the tool does not convert UBL to CII. For CII invoices, use the ZUGFeRD / Factur-X Generator.
Does Konvi store the generated PDF?
No. The PDF exists only in your browser until you download it. Reloading or closing the tab removes it.
Can I open a corrected invoice from the Correction Assistant?
Yes. After the Correction Assistant has validated your corrected working copy, it can send the XML here. This page validates it again independently.
Does a valid result guarantee legal acceptance?
No. A validated result confirms the technical checks shown. It does not guarantee that every recipient or authority accepts the invoice.
